Not only is the baton passing to up-and-coming leaders, the very nature of leadership
is being transformed. Veteran leader Jimmy Long has discerned how leadership positions
and roles have changed in light of societal shifts. Authority is no longer derived from positional status but is earned from relational credibility. And leadership is less about directing followers to a particular destination but rather empowering others on a shared journey.

Existing leaders cannot write off emerging leaders because they work differently. Nor can younger leaders dismiss the contributions of those who have gone before. As we minister is an increasingly complex culture, existing and emerging leaders will need to understand each other's leadership styles in order to collaborate fruitfully for the sake of the kingdom.

The Most Important Ingredient
of Leadership-------->Integrity

A person with integrity does not
have divided loyalties (that's
duplicity), nor is he or she merely
pretending (that's hypocrisy). People
with integrity are "whole" people; they
can be identified by their single-
mindedness. People with integrity
have nothing to hide and nothing to
fear. Their lives are open books. A
person with integrity is one who has
established a system of values against
which all of life is judged.
